Summary
The Medical Affairs Project Manager is responsible for coordinating initiatives and process improvement projects for medical affairs (CCC/ OP UM/ UMDO). Under the supervision of the UM Senior Leadership, the Project Manager will be responsible to support strategic initiatives, assigning and tracking individual responsibilities and project resources, developing a project schedule, and setting deadlines. This position is primarily responsible for effective planning, managing, and implementation of highly visible projects that will improve enterprise infrastructure and promote change and improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage projects across all functional areas within Medical Affairs—including Inpatient, Outpatient, Case Management, and Delegation Oversight—as well as cross-departmental initiatives in support of strategic objectives.
- Organize, attend, and participate in project meetings with stakeholders from all Medical Affairs domains and other key departments.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive project management tracker/calendar to ensure fulfillment of goals and objectives across Inpatient, Outpatient, Case Management, and Delegation Oversight initiatives.
- Monitor the creation and implementation of all project deliverables—such as policies, training materials, workflows, and reporting dashboards—to ensure quality and adherence to applicable standards across Medical Affairs functions.
- Provide frequent, detailed communication to Medical Affairs leadership and business owners on project development, progress, and status updates.
- Assess and communicate project risks, barriers, and issues across all Medical Affairs areas, and recommend or implement solutions where applicable.
- Establish and/or revise standard operating procedures, workflows, and operational guidelines across Inpatient, Outpatient, Case Management, and Delegation Oversight as driven by project development, updated regulatory/compliance requirements, or All Plan Letters.
- Collaborate with process owners and operational leads across Medical Affairs to expand control testing initiatives that align with risk management, compliance, and internal audit expectations, ensuring policies and procedures address key regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Research, gather, and analyze data from all Medical Affairs sectors to prepare reports and insights for leadership review, decision-making, and action.
- Proactively research and build subject matter expertise across all Medical Affairs areas—including industry best practices, regulatory changes, and operational improvements—to enhance project outcomes and department performance.
- Undertake other project-related tasks and responsibilities as required to support the operational success and compliance of Medical Affairs.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma (bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- 2+ years of experience in a clinical care setting or utilization management
- 2+ years of project-based work experience preferred
- Experience working with EZCAP, Smartsheet, and Tableau is preferred
- Experience with writing formal documents and policies is a plus

Salary Range:
- $98,000 - $105,000 Annual
